Direction from the South by road
Exit M6 at Junction 40 (Penrith). Take first exit
onto A66 towards Keswick. On approaching Keswick
DO NOT turn for town centre but continue on A66
until large Crosthwaite roundabout on outskirts
of Keswick. Take last exit onto A591 signposted
for Carlisle (not Windermere). After approx. 6 miles
(10-15 mins) you will drive past a large church
on the right. After this turn right for Bassenthwaite
village. It is 0.5 miles to the village - continue
on this road with village green on the right until
you reach our cottages by the stream and white wooden
bridge.
Directions from the East by road
Take the A66 to Penrith then Keswick then follow
directions 'from the South'.
Directions from the North by road
Travel to Carlisle then take A595. After 18 miles
turn left (by Bothel village) onto A591 for Keswick.
After 5 miles pass the Castle Inn hotel then take
the second left signposted for Bassenthwaite. Our
cottages are by the stream and white wooden bridge.
By Train
Travel to Penrith station on the West Coast Main
Line. Take the X4 bus from Penrith station to Bassenthwaite
(journey approx. 50 mins). The X4 bus departs approximately
every 2 hours but there are more frequent buses
to Keswick. The bus stops on the A591, an easy 10-15
mins walk from our cottages by the stream in Bassenthwaite
